PRESS RELEASE

Cuca Rock

You will not see a lot of Cuca Rock on the web site at this time although we have recorded and released over 500 rock singles in the 60's, but there will be complilation CDs coming. Sundaze Records has included several Cuca rock clips on their recent CD release "Lost Legends of Surf Guitar", Ace Records of London recently released a Cuca Rock CD "Elemental Rock", and Classics Records of Sweden recently released "Cuca Records Rock'N'Roll Story VOL 2".

An excellent reference for Cuca rock and all Wisconsin rock is Gary Myers's book "Do You Hear That Beat-Wisconsin Pop Rock in the 50;s & 60's" (Hummingbird Press). Gary's e-mail is gem777@earthlink.net.

Earl Hooker

Cuca Records is honored to have recorded the "Father of the Chicago Blues Sound" Earl Hooker (KCD 4100 "The Genius of Earl Hooker"). An excellent book on Earl is by Sebastian Danchin of France: "Earl Hooker Blues Master" (University Press of Mississippi). Chapter 10 is "Hooker and Cuca", another honor. It was through Earl that we met Jimmy Dawkins and A C Reed among other great Blues artists. "Birdlegs and Pauline" became Cuca recording artists because of Earl, too. Their hit "Spring" on a Cuca single was leased to Vee Jay of Chicago, who, at that time, also had the Beatles. "Spring" was topping the Billboard R&B chart and on its way up the Hot 100 when VeeJay folded. Their CD (KCD 4000 "Birdlegs") is loaded with originals including "Spring" and "In So Many Ways".

Uncle Ozzie

It wasn't until I was driving home from the Dorf Haus in Roxbury a while back that I realized that I just witnessed a "one man show"”for I thoroughly enjoyed the Uncle Ozzie Dance Show as much as many 12 piece old time bands in the past; Not only was his talent overflowing playing six different instruments along with 8 tracks of musicians performing electronically, the music, the voices, the whole show, was in such good taste that my opinions of today's values when compared to the good old days, is once again restored.

And he looks good, up there, with charisma so honest, that I enjoyed just watching and listening, having as much fun, as the near 100 dancers out on the floor.

The “Sound” is absolutely great!.., actually better than live sound of a big band since the proper balance and conditioning has already been done electronically. Also, Ozzie spared nothing in setting up the highest quality of sound equipment available. And with Shirley carefully watching over the mixing console.

He's a survivor, over 40 years in the business, and has kept the old time music live! His hard, work has paid off. He has a good following, several hundred, who really appreciate having the Uncle Ozzie Show. When in your area, catch him...you won't be disappointed
